I Could…

I could dance in your shadow
For the rest of my days
But that might make me weak
Setting muscles ablaze

I could fixate on your smile
Whole generations long
But grinning lips can hide
Many unprofessed wrongs

I could listen to you sing
The most romantic tunes
But, please, compare me not
To stars and distant moons

I could love you forever
Ignoring each rebuff
But forever, my dear,
Just isn’t long enough
